Cancellation and refund
This policy explains how to add or drop a course, how to withdraw, and what money is returned when you do.

Add and drop
At the start of each term there is a period in which you may add a course or drop one without academic or financial penalty. A course dropped inside that window does not appear on your transcript and is not charged.
After the window closes, dropping a course becomes a withdrawal and the terms below apply.

Withdrawing from a course or programme
Withdrawal must be submitted in writing. The date the university receives that notice is the date used to calculate any refund, not the date you stopped participating.
This matters, and it is the single most common way students lose money they did not expect to lose. If you are thinking about stopping, tell us on the day you decide.

What is refunded
Refunds are calculated on a sliding scale by the week of the term in which written notice is received. The full schedule appears in the table below.
The registration fee is not refundable. Refunds are returned by the method the payment was made in.

If the university cancels
Where eLadder cancels a course or is unable to deliver it as described, students receive a full refund of the fees paid for that course, including the registration fee where the cancellation prevents the student from starting at all.
Disputes
If you believe a refund has been calculated incorrectly, raise it under the grievance policy. That route stays open to you regardless of what this schedule says.
